The road took me through a thick grove of trees, dappled sun warming me despite the chill in my mood. And the chill came from Tiffany. The fact that Tiffany had looked me up after all these years was disappointing enough. The fact that I had agreed to meet her was my mistake, and even more disappointing. Tiffany had been a nice enough girl — I could see that even back then, in high school. But at the time, she had harbored a ridiculous crush on me. And for my part, I had harbored no interest in her. In fact, I couldn’t have thought of a girl in my class less appealing.
